⚡ What changed recently

  • CGPSC opened a public consultation on revising the Mains syllabus in July 2026, inviting suggestions online within a month. The Commission said the revised syllabus would apply to future exams and not the current cycle, so this hub follows the syllabus now in force. Check the next notification for changes.
  • The 2025-26 cycle held its Prelims on 22 February 2026 and its Mains on 6 to 9 June 2026. Prelims Paper II is qualifying, and Paper I ranks candidates for Mains.
  • Chhattisgarh's district map changed in September 2022, when five new districts took the total from 28 to 33. Always quote the number with its year.
  • Policy schemes and office-holders change, so this hub teaches Chhattisgarh's institutions, statutes and dated programmes and names no sitting Governor or Chief Minister. Confirm current names independently before the exam.
  • The syllabus keeps a full Philosophy part, a Sociology part, Class 10-level science and aptitude, welfare laws and sports, which makes CGPSC broader than most state PCS exams.

Where your CGPSC score comes from

Prelims has two objective papers of 200 marks each. Paper I (General Studies) ranks candidates for Mains, and Paper II (Aptitude Test) is qualifying, so it needs a pass mark but adds nothing to your rank. Mains is the scoring stage: seven descriptive papers of 200 marks and three hours each, all counting toward merit, followed by a 150-mark interview. Paper I is Language (Hindi, English and Chhattisgarhi), Paper II is the Essay, and Papers III to VII are General Studies I to V. Each General Studies paper has three parts, and most parts are either a national subject (history, the Constitution, science, economy, geography, philosophy, sociology, welfare laws, international organisations, education) or a Chhattisgarh subject (history, geography, economy, society and culture, welfare schemes). That is why this hub has 17 Chhattisgarh-specific chapters. The Commission publishes no part-wise marks, so the marks shown are indicative. Click any block to open its chapters:

🎯 The factual questions are fixed and scoring: language family, the Indo-Aryan and Dravidian split, and the dates of the Act, the Commission and the state song. Grammar and translation need daily practice in the language itself.

🎯 Shared with UPSC CSE Mains. CGPSC asks for about 750 words on each of two national topics, so use the craft chapters with the Chhattisgarh essay chapter's time plan.

🎯 Shared with UPSC CSE Mains. National and international issues follow the cause, present status with data and solution frame.

🎯 Shared with UPSC CSE Mains. Use it for philosophical topics, which sit well with CGPSC's philosophy part.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

CGPSC invited candidate suggestions on a revision of the Mains syllabus in July 2026 and said the revised syllabus would apply to future exams and not the current cycle. This hub follows the syllabus now in force, and you should check the next notification for the final revised syllabus.

Prelims is a screening stage. Paper I ranks candidates for Mains, and Paper II is qualifying, needing 33 per cent (23 per cent for reserved categories and persons with disabilities). Wrong answers lose one-third of the marks. Confirm the merit rules on the notification, which describe the final merit as Mains plus Interview.

About half of the General Studies content is national and follows UPSC-style material, which is why this hub aliases those chapters. CGPSC differs in three ways: a Chhattisgarh part runs through six of the seven Mains papers, it tests subjects UPSC handles differently (philosophy, sociology, school-level science and aptitude, welfare laws, sports and international organisations), and it has a Chhattisgarhi language part.

The state began with 16 districts in 2000 and had 33 after September 2022, when five new districts were created. Because the number has changed, always quote it with its year and confirm the current figure before the exam.

Office-holders change, and this content is written to stay accurate across those changes. The chapters teach the institutions, statutes and dated programmes that carry the marks. Confirm current names from a live source close to your exam date.
