UPSC CSEIndian Society
Indian Society for UPSC CSE
Diversity, women, population, poverty, urbanisation, globalisation, communalism/regionalism/secularism — GS1 Mains' most distinctly Mains-only subject.
📊 High-yield and heavily current-affairs-linked — almost every year's questions hook onto a recent report, scheme, or event🧑🤝🧑
How toppers play this section
Unlike History or Geography, Indian Society has almost no Prelims-level factual overlap to build on — it's a genuinely new analytical skill: reading social phenomena (a new census figure, a policy debate, a social movement) through named sociological lenses (social stratification, social change, structural versus cultural explanations) rather than reciting facts. Questions reward a specific, defensible analytical stance over a purely descriptive survey.
Chapters
Built to the UPSC CSE blueprint — notes, shortcuts, solved PYQ-style examples and practice in every chapter.
