SCREENING GATE

Prelims: one objective paper, 200 marks

Eight sections of 25 marks. It is qualifying only, and marks do not count towards the final merit.

THE SCORING STAGE

Mains: eight descriptive papers

Six compulsory papers of 200 marks and, for Group A and B, two optional papers of 200 marks.

FINAL STAGE

Personality Test (Interview)

200 marks for Group A and B, 150 for Group C and 100 for Group D. Final merit adds Mains and interview marks.

The Prelims is one objective paper of 200 marks with eight sections of 25 marks: English Composition, General Science, Current Events, History of India, Geography of India with special reference to West Bengal, Indian Polity and Economy, Indian National Movement, and General Mental Ability. It is qualifying only. Sources conflict on negative marking, with one-third of the marks reported, so confirm on the notification.
