Neha's Alarm Clock

'Ring-a-ding-ding! The alarm clock screamed every morning at 6 o'clock. And Neha hated it.'

1. About the Story

Theme: Daily routine, accepting responsibility, natural clocks

Neha is a little girl who LOVES sleeping. She HATES her alarm clock. Every morning at 6 o'clock, it rings loudly and disturbs her sleep. She wishes it would BREAK — and one day, it does! But she learns a SURPRISING lesson.

2. The Story

Monday — The Alarm Clock Breaks

Neha's alarm clock rings at 6 o'clock. She is VERY angry. She pushes it — CRASH! The clock falls and BREAKS into pieces. Neha is THRILLED. Now she can sleep as long as she wants!

Tuesday — The Birds Wake Her

At 6 o'clock the next morning, Neha is fast asleep. But outside her window, the BIRDS are chirping loudly. Cheep-cheep! Chirp-chirp! The birds wake her up. Neha is upset. She throws a pillow at the window.

Wednesday — The Sun Wakes Her

Wednesday morning. The birds have flown away. 'Now I can sleep,' thinks Neha. But the SUN shines brightly through her window, right onto her face. She cannot sleep with so much light. She pulls the blanket over her head.

Thursday — Mother Wakes Her

On Thursday, it is cloudy. No sun, no birds. Neha is happy. But then her MOTHER comes and gently wakes her. 'Time to get up, Neha.' She cannot argue with her mother.

Friday — Neha Wakes Up on Her Own

Friday morning. The alarm is still broken. No birds. No sun. Mother is busy. But at 6 o'clock — Neha's EYES open by themselves! Her body has LEARNED to wake up at 6 o'clock. She is amazed. She runs to tell her mother, 'I woke up on my own!'

3. What We Learn

The Body's Internal Clock

Our body has a NATURAL clock inside it. Once we follow a routine for a few days, our body REMEMBERS and wakes us up automatically. This is called the CIRCADIAN RHYTHM.

Natural Alarm Clocks

Alarm ClockHow It Works
Alarm clockMakes a loud ringing sound
BirdsSing at sunrise
SunlightBright light signals the brain to wake up
ParentsGentle calls and reminders
Internal clockBody learns to wake at a set time

4. Character — Neha

Neha is a RELATABLE character. She loves to sleep and hates waking up — just like MANY children (and adults!). Through the story, she LEARNS:

  • She cannot avoid waking up forever
  • Nature has its own alarms
  • Her body can LEARN to wake up on its own

5. Key Facts

  • Our body has an INTERNAL CLOCK called the circadian rhythm
  • It takes about 21 days to BUILD a new habit
  • NATURE has many alarm clocks — birds, sunlight, animals
  • Waking up early gives you MORE time in the day
  • Fighting the morning makes you MORE tired than accepting it
  • A ROUTINE helps your body know what to expect

7. Common Mistakes

'Do NOT think the story is just about an alarm clock. It is about BUILDING HABITS.' 'Do NOT think breaking things is a good solution. Neha broke her clock by ACCIDENT, not on purpose.' 'Do NOT think your body can learn a new habit in ONE day. It takes TIME and CONSISTENCY.' 'Do NOT ignore nature's alarms — birds singing, sunlight, and fresh air.' 'Do NOT stay up too late thinking you can wake up easily. Sleep is IMPORTANT for growing children.'

8. Fun Activity

My Morning Routine Write down your morning routine. What time do you wake up? Who or what wakes you? Draw a picture of your routine.

Natural Alarm Clock Hunt Tomorrow morning, listen carefully. What sounds do you hear? Birds? Vehicles? People? Write down 5 sounds you hear in the morning.

Build a Good Habit Choose ONE good morning habit (waking up on time, making your bed, brushing before breakfast). Do it every day for one week. Tick it on a chart.
