Pinocchio
'A lie keeps growing and growing until it is as plain as the nose on your face.'
1. About the Story
Author: Carlo Collodi (adapted) Theme: Honesty, consequences, personal growth, becoming 'real'
Geppetto, a poor woodcarver, makes a PUPPET from a special piece of wood. To his AMAZEMENT, the puppet comes to LIFE! He names him PINOCCHIO. But Pinocchio is naughty and tells lies — and every time he lies, his NOSE GROWS LONGER!
2. The Story
Geppetto's Wish
Geppetto is a poor woodcarver who lives alone. He makes a wooden puppet and wishes it were a REAL boy. That night, the BLUE FAIRY visits. She brings the puppet to life! But Pinocchio is still a PUPPET — he will only become a real boy if he is BRAVE, TRUTHFUL, and UNSELFISH.
Pinocchio Goes to School
Geppetto sells his coat to buy Pinocchio a schoolbook. He wants Pinocchio to LEARN and become a real boy. Pinocchio promises to go to school — but on the way, he sees a PUPPET SHOW and forgets all about school.
The Talking Cricket
A talking cricket warns Pinocchio: 'Boys who do not listen to good advice come to a BAD END.' Pinocchio ignores him and squashes the cricket. (Spoiler: the cricket comes BACK later.)
Pinocchio Meets Tricky Characters
Pinocchio meets the FOX and the CAT, who trick him. They tell him he can get rich by planting his gold coins in the FIELD OF MIRACLES. Pinocchio is GREEDY and believes them. He loses his coins.
The Growing Nose
When the Blue Fairy asks Pinocchio about the coins, he lies. With each lie, his nose grows LONGER and LONGER. 'I did not lose them... I... I THOUGHT about losing them!' NOSE GROWS. Finally, the Blue Fairy says, 'Lies, my boy, are easily told but hard to HIDE.'
Pinocchio Learns His Lesson
After many ADVENTURES and MISTAKES — including turning into a DONKEY on Pleasure Island! — Pinocchio finally LEARNS. He becomes BRAVE (rescues Geppetto from a whale), TRUTHFUL (stops lying), and UNSELFING (cares for others). The Blue Fairy turns him into a REAL boy.

4. What We Learn
Why Honesty Matters

| Took something | Say you did not | Return it and apologise |
Three Rules to Become 'Real'
